Write about a conversation that changed you.

 A conversation that changed me was when I was talking with my coach about my future in volleyball. We were talking about how those who took the opportunity and decided to play in college never had any regrets but those who didn't always have the regret of not trying. I think this conversation really changed my perspective of things and what I wanted to do with my future. My coach made me realize that I should not let the fear of failure stop me from trying. This conversation made me think more seriously about my future.

Summary: Today in class we filled out a worksheet that helped us analyze a poem.

Reflection: I learned how to point out and see metaphors in writing and interpret what the meant. This will help me on the mcq portion of the AP Lang exam when analyzing text to discover their meaning.

Overall I have enjoyed the class and think that its been goin well. I enjoy arguing over certain topics and love to write. One of my biggest struggles this year has been procrasination. This has always been a struggle for me because once I prove to myself I can get anything done last minute and still get a good grade then I start to push everything to the last second. This especailly effects me this year because of the amount of Ap classes I took on so I need to improve this and get stuff doesn't as soon as they are assigned. This will help me make sure that work doesn't pile up. Summary: Today in class we wrote our argumentative paragraph surrounding whether or not there was such thing as a good kill. Reflection: I learned that even though you may morally agree with one side in a personal way you should always go with the side that you can provide the most evidence on. This will help me on the AP exam when deciding which direction to take on an essay.

Think about a time when you made a claim or gave an opinion, but someone asked you, “Why?” or “How do you know?” Describe the situation. What evidence did you use to support your point, and why is explaining your evidence just as important as providing it?

 One time, I expressed my opinion on a movie and said that it was really good to a friend. They ended up disagreeing and asking me why I thought that. The evidence that I ended up using to back up my claim on the movie was that the actors and characters were good and that the main plot was intreging. I didn't have the best evidence though and trying to give reasoning with what I had was a struggle so there opinion didn't change on the movie. I think that explaining your evidence is extremly important to create an effective argument and that without an explanation no one will fully understand the point you are trying to make. Summary: Today in class, we read a story with a military setting involving a guy named Tim O'brien and discussed how to make an argument over whether there is such thing as a good kill. Write about a fear you have overcome.

 A fear that I have overcome multiple times is public speaking. I have never liked speaking in front of people. But as I have gotten older, I have had more opportunities to overcome this fear in school, and for different kinds of classes. Its not that I was scared of messing up what I was going to say because I know no one cares but more of doing it in general that was uncomfortable. As I practice, I get better at it and talk clearer without stumbling. I am deffinantly glad to have the chance to overcome this fear. Summary: We reflected on our writable argumentative paragraphs to see what we did good and bad. Reflection: I learned that I need to add more to my commentary. I also learned that one sentence is enough for a claim which I think will help me in the future.
