Think about a time when you exaggerated something to make a point, tell a story, or get someone's attention. What happened? What did you say? Why did you exaggerate? Looking back, do you think your exaggeration made your message more effective? Explain.

One time I exagerated when I was telling my coach why I was late for practice. I told him that the traffic was horrible and the worst traffic I had ever been in. The truth was that I left a little to late and got stuck in some minor rush hour traffic. I exaggerated because I didnt want my coach to get angry and didn't want to suffer any consequences for being late. I think that looking back, this exaggeration did get my point accross better and was more effective because he was more understanding about the situation. Overall I think in some circumstances its okay to over exaggerate things to make your point clearer.

Summary: Today in class we took notes on figurative language and completed exercises displaying examples of hyperboles.

Reflection: I learned how to turn situations into a hyperbole and how authors can also use this when writing. I think that this will help me in the future when analyzing figuaritive language in passages on the AP exam and understanding how its used to convey a certain message.
