Today, we learned how to use clustering as a brainstorming strategy before responding to any writing prompt. Think about today’s practice. How did clustering help you generate ideas, examples, etc for the prompt? What part of the clustering process was most useful to you, and do you think you would use this strategy when planning an AP Lang essay? Explain.

 The clustering method helped me organize my ideas better and I was able to come up with more subtopics than before. Organizing my thoughts with this method will allow me to create more structured body paragraphs in my essays. It helped me generate more ideas because I could see how everything connected when it was written down on paper. I will use this strategy in my AP Lang essays so that I have a easier foundation and structure to work on. It will help me feel more prepared when writing my essay.

Summary: Today in class we used the clustering method for the first time to plan out our essay outline.

Reflection: I learned that using this method can help me not mix up my thoughts and create more for me to write about. This will help me on future AP Lang essays by giving me a structured outline and improving my orginization strategies.

Overall I have enjoyed the class and think that its been goin well. I enjoy arguing over certain topics and love to write. One of my biggest struggles this year has been procrasination. This has always been a struggle for me because once I prove to myself I can get anything done last minute and still get a good grade then I start to push everything to the last second. Reflection: I learned that even though you may morally agree with one side in a personal way you should always go with the side that you can provide the most evidence on. Think about a time when you made a claim or gave an opinion, but someone asked you, “Why?” or “How do you know?” Describe the situation. What evidence did you use to support your point, and why is explaining your evidence just as important as providing it?

 One time, I expressed my opinion on a movie and said that it was really good to a friend. They ended up disagreeing and asking me why I thought that. The evidence that I ended up using to back up my claim on the movie was that the actors and characters were good and that the main plot was intreging. I didn't have the best evidence though and trying to give reasoning with what I had was a struggle so there opinion didn't change on the movie. I think that explaining your evidence is extremly important to create an effective argument and that without an explanation no one will fully understand the point you are trying to make. Summary: Today in class, we read a story with a military setting involving a guy named Tim O'brien and discussed how to make an argument over whether there is such thing as a good kill. Write about a fear you have overcome.

 A fear that I have overcome multiple times is public speaking. I have never liked speaking in front of people. But as I have gotten older, I have had more opportunities to overcome this fear in school, and for different kinds of classes. Its not that I was scared of messing up what I was going to say because I know no one cares but more of doing it in general that was uncomfortable. As I practice, I get better at it and talk clearer without stumbling. I am deffinantly glad to have the chance to overcome this fear. Summary: We reflected on our writable argumentative paragraphs to see what we did good and bad. Reflection: I learned that I need to add more to my commentary. I also learned that one sentence is enough for a claim which I think will help me in the future.
