Write about something that you believed as a child.

 When I was little, I believed in the tooth fairy. As a kid, my mom would put money under my pillow every time I lost a tooth. I would wake up in the morning, check under my pillow, and see the the bright gold one dollar coin sitting there. It brought me so much excitment that I never questioned the tooth fairy not being real. I would collect and treasure the coins untill I got older and eventually realized that the tooth fairy wasn't real. I think that believing in small things like the tooth fairy, Santa, and more, as a kid really helped create a magical childhood.

Summary: Today we talked more about arguments and discussed the three types of claims.  

Reflection: This helped me better understand the difference between a claim and a statement of fact. Learning about claims of fact, value, and policy will help me build and structure a stronger argument and determine what someone elses main argument is.

Overall I have enjoyed the class and think that its been goin well. I enjoy arguing over certain topics and love to write. One of my biggest struggles this year has been procrasination. This has always been a struggle for me because once I prove to myself I can get anything done last minute and still get a good grade then I start to push everything to the last second. This especailly effects me this year because of the amount of Ap classes I took on so I need to improve this and get stuff doesn't as soon as they are assigned. This will help me make sure that work doesn't pile up. Summary: Today in class we wrote our argumentative paragraph surrounding whether or not there was such thing as a good kill. Reflection: I learned that even though you may morally agree with one side in a personal way you should always go with the side that you can provide the most evidence on. This will help me on the AP exam when deciding which direction to take on an essay.

Think about a time when you made a claim or gave an opinion, but someone asked you, “Why?” or “How do you know?” Describe the situation. What evidence did you use to support your point, and why is explaining your evidence just as important as providing it?

 One time, I expressed my opinion on a movie and said that it was really good to a friend. They ended up disagreeing and asking me why I thought that. The evidence that I ended up using to back up my claim on the movie was that the actors and characters were good and that the main plot was intreging. I didn't have the best evidence though and trying to give reasoning with what I had was a struggle so there opinion didn't change on the movie. I think that explaining your evidence is extremly important to create an effective argument and that without an explanation no one will fully understand the point you are trying to make. Summary: Today in class, we read a story with a military setting involving a guy named Tim O'brien and discussed how to make an argument over whether there is such thing as a good kill. Write about a fear you have overcome.

 A fear that I have overcome multiple times is public speaking. I have never liked speaking in front of people. But as I have gotten older, I have had more opportunities to overcome this fear in school, and for different kinds of classes. Its not that I was scared of messing up what I was going to say because I know no one cares but more of doing it in general that was uncomfortable. As I practice, I get better at it and talk clearer without stumbling. I am deffinantly glad to have the chance to overcome this fear. Summary: We reflected on our writable argumentative paragraphs to see what we did good and bad. Reflection: I learned that I need to add more to my commentary. I also learned that one sentence is enough for a claim which I think will help me in the future.
