As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

As I continue to grow older and face new experiences, I think that I will have to stand up for my political beliefs. The more I notice the unjust issues that occur in our world today, the more I realize the importance of researching and gathering evidence. This helps me better understand certain situations and allows me to create a well-informed opinions on important subjects. I feel like the topic on who to vote for comes up quite often whether students expressing their beliefs in a classroom or society discussing it in general. I hope to have a good argument with quality evidence for any debate that I may encounter.

Summary: Today we took notes on what a good argument consists of as well as discussing the origins of our classmates names.

Reflection: I learned that a good argument is an opinion supported by evidence and that there were three main parts of an argument. This will help me create structured and clear arguments that I can use in an essay.

Overall I have enjoyed the class and think that its been goin well. I enjoy arguing over certain topics and love to write. One of my biggest struggles this year has been procrasination. This has always been a struggle for me because once I prove to myself I can get anything done last minute and still get a good grade then I start to push everything to the last second. Think about a time when you made a claim or gave an opinion, but someone asked you, “Why?” or “How do you know?” Describe the situation. What evidence did you use to support your point, and why is explaining your evidence just as important as providing it?

 One time, I expressed my opinion on a movie and said that it was really good to a friend. They ended up disagreeing and asking me why I thought that. The evidence that I ended up using to back up my claim on the movie was that the actors and characters were good and that the main plot was intreging. I didn't have the best evidence though and trying to give reasoning with what I had was a struggle so there opinion didn't change on the movie. I think that explaining your evidence is extremly important to create an effective argument and that without an explanation no one will fully understand the point you are trying to make. Write about a fear you have overcome.

 A fear that I have overcome multiple times is public speaking. I have never liked speaking in front of people. But as I have gotten older, I have had more opportunities to overcome this fear in school, and for different kinds of classes. Its not that I was scared of messing up what I was going to say because I know no one cares but more of doing it in general that was uncomfortable. As I practice, I get better at it and talk clearer without stumbling. I am deffinantly glad to have the chance to overcome this fear. Summary: We reflected on our writable argumentative paragraphs to see what we did good and bad. Reflection: I learned that I need to add more to my commentary. I also learned that one sentence is enough for a claim which I think will help me in the future.
